PROFIL

The Bachelor of French Language Education (BoFLE) program at Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta (UNY) prepares students to become independent, responsible, critical, creative, and innovative graduates. The program equips students with the competencies needed to excel in teaching French, entrepreneurship in tourism, and translation between French and Indonesian. In the teaching field, students develop the ability to communicate effectively in French, both orally and in writing. They gain expertise in analyzing French language and literature, designing educational programs, and managing school operations. In the tourism sector, students acquire practical experience in hospitality settings such as hotels, restaurants, and tour guiding. In translation, the program provides a strong foundation in translation theory, literary translation, and technical translation, ensuring students are well-prepared for careers in this field. The curriculum for this program is designed to be completed in 8 semesters.

In 2025 it will become a faculty that excels in the fields of language, literature and art science and education in Asia that is academic, humanist, innovative, and professional based on piety, independence and intellectuality

  • Organizing education in the fields of science and education of language, literature, and art based on research to prepare excellent graduates at the Asian level who are academic, humanist, innovative, and professional based on intellect and piety
  • Conducting research to find, develop, and disseminate knowledge in the fields of education and non-educational language, literature, and art that are of quality and relevant to the needs of the community.
  • Organizing research-based community service activities in the fields of science and education of language, literature, and art to encourage the development of human, community, and natural potential to realize community welfare. Organizing accountable, transparent, fair, innovative, and synergistic faculty governance to support the implementation of the Tridarma of Higher Education and information and communication technology-based institutional performance. Organizing cooperation with the fields of science and education of language, literature, and art with educational and non-educational institutions, both at home and abroad to improve the quality of the Tridharma of Higher Education.
  • Organizing research-based community service activities in the fields of science and education of language, literature, and art to encourage the development of human, community, and natural potential to realize community welfare. By 2025, the department aspires to be a leading program in Asia, producing educational scholars in the field of French language, grounded in devotion, independence, and intellectual excellence, and fully equipped to compete in the global market.

DEPARTMENT MISSION

The missions of the French Language Education Study Program are described as follows.

  • Carrying out effective and efficient educational and teaching activities to produce pious, intellectual, and independent graduates who are able to work in the educational and non-educational fields.
  • Conducting research that is synergistic with educational programs and Community Service Programs in French teaching, language, and culture.
  • Disseminating knowledge about French teaching, language, and culture in the form of Community Service activities.
